On Monday, October 5th, I was lucky enough to attend The Palmaz Harvest Report, an event celebrating the harvest season. Hosted by vintner Florencia Palmaz on the swanky Library Hotel Rooftop, and the event featured a number of palate-pleasing wines from Palmaz Vineyards.

Upon arrival, I opted to sample the 2013 Amalia Chardonnay. As I made my way to the open rooftop area, I was breath taken by the astonishing views of the beautiful Midtown cityscape. After my first sip of the pleasantly refreshing Chardonnay, I had completely forgotten that it was only Monday, and when first round of passed hor d’oeuvres made their appearance I was in a state of pure bliss.

As guests happily mingled and rejoiced in the absolutely perfect autumn weather, I decided it was past time I sampled my second wine. Craving the rich taste of a red, I decided on a glass of the 2012 Palmaz Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon. The rich texture combined with the blackberry and vanilla aromas made it the perfect treat to sip on throughout a breezy autumn evening. As I savored my Cabernet, I sampled a number of truly extravagant hors d’oeuvres, including a tasty tuna tartare. I chatted with the lovely Ms. Palmaz, who shared with me that her favorite of her family’s wine was the Cabernet.  With one last sip of my own glass, I had to agree.

The celebration was quite charming. The view was astounding, the appetizers kept coming, and the atmosophere was comfortable and warm. The star of the evening, however, was the Palmaz wines themselves.  As the drinks kept flowing, there was one thing that everyone could agree upon: this was some pretty exquisite wine.  Overall, The Palmaz Harvest Report was a pleasantly posh and seriously savory success.
